If you are overly caffeinated, pregnant, nursing, running a fever, upset, sleep-deprived, or just came inside from a bright outdoor environment, your evaluation of color is highly suspect.Cool = 9300K, Normal = 6500K, and Warm = 5000K. If you are overly caffeinated, pregnant, nursing, running a fever, upset, sleep-deprived, or just came inside from a bright outdoor environment, your evaluation of color is highly suspect. Allow your eyes to adjust to the environment for 10-15 minutes before doing critical color adjustments. Your print viewing area should be next to the monitor, illuminated with 5000K fluorescent tube with a 91 or higher CRI (color rendering index the sun is 100 at sea level with no clouds or pollution). Your experience with other papers and processes may vary.īe sure you evaluate color against a neutral gray monitor desktop, in a dimly-lit room with no brightly colored objects nearby. At the lab where I worked, we found that a monitor gamma of 2.1 best matched Kodak Endura Supra paper. Gamma again, if you can set it will vary, based on the printing process (printer, paper, ink, or lab). Out of the box, many monitors are MUCH brighter than this, so you have to reduce the brightness during the calibration process, if you want your prints to match the monitor. White level should be about 105 cd/m^2, ± 20. If you have the kit that allows custom settings, Black level should be about 0.5 cd/m^2 (candelas per square meter). SPYDER 4 ELITE TV CALIBRATION PROI'll point out that I used that configuration in a large pro photo lab for years. I generally found that leaving monitors at 6500K and having print viewing light boxes at 5000K is the best match for print evaluations when using standard chromogenic silver halide color papers. The graphic arts (CMYK offset) and photo PRINT viewing standard is 5000K. Photography and desktop monitors are usually set to 6500K. Fire is red/orange, so that color scheme stuck to "warm". Since we humans tend to associate blue with cold water and ice, the term "cool" stuck to blue, even though it's hotter as a color temperature. ![]() The standard is a glowing block of Tungsten (Wolfram) metal, heated to a specific temperature. I've never seen anything deviate from that, but never say never. Help! Thanks.Last night I calibrated my Monitor for the first t. SPYDER 4 ELITE TV CALIBRATION MANUALThe Spyder suggests that I set my Monitor to 6500K, how? Could that be the same as Normal or Warm? The manual for the Dell monitor lists no information for the monitor's color temperature settings. This monitor does not seem to have Kelvin temperature adjustments only imprecise Cool, Normal, and Warm. I did this just in case I want to edit or process an image with Photoshop Elements PSE. SPYDER 4 ELITE TV CALIBRATION WINDOWS 7I also ran a calibration on my wife's Windows 7 Pro computer with a Dell E2715H (26" ) Monitor. Once I figured out the arcane icons and menu flow for my AOC 2236 (22" ) Monitor everything went fine for my computer with Photoshop CS6. This older version seemed to work fine even with Windows 10. Last night I calibrated my Monitor for the first time with the Datacolor Spyder 4 Elite. ![]()
